In the Women’s final, all eyes were on the glass court for the match between Hope Lungundi and Benedicte Mumosi – the Democratic Republic of Congo’s most prolific Squash players.
From the first serve, it was clear this wouldn’t be an ordinary match. The rallies were long and tactical, the movement sharp, the determination in both players’ eyes unshakable. Hope brought power and precision, Benedicte countered with patience and placement. Every point was fought as if it were the last.
For the young girls in the crowd — some holding rackets almost as tall as themselves — it was a masterclass in skill, courage, and self-belief.
In the end, it was Benedicte Mumosi who emerged victorious, weathering Hope’s relentless pace and keeping her composure to seal the win. She didn’t just claim the title; she delivered a message to every aspiring girl watching: “You belong here.”
